Concussion for DiMAIO after hit

In the Lightning's 4-3 overtime preseason loss in Montreal, right wing Rob DiMaio takes an elbow from the Canadiens' Guillaume Latendresse, causing a concussion. Dan Boyle also has to leave the game.

Hometown Hero: Hall of Famer Wade Boggs played only two seasons with the Devil Rays, but what he did on the field, getting his 3,000th hit, and around the Tampa Bay community where he grew up, working with several charities, was enough to make him a hometown hero. Boggs on Tuesday was named the Rays' winner in the nationwide contest to pick a player from each team based on the combination of on-field contributions, character and leadership. He finished ahead of Carl Crawford, Roberto Hernandez, Aubrey Huff and Fred McGriff.

BUCS BIT

Starting today through Friday, Bucs fans can sign a get-well card for Chris Simms at the Authentic Team Merchandise, "It's Bucs and Bulls Heaven," at 14823 N Florida Ave. in Tampa. The 34-by-43-inch card is a photograph of Simms in action. Also, the store will have a collection box for fans who wish to drop off a personalized card.

OUT OF BOUNDS

The Madden Jinx has struck again. Seattle's Shaun Alexander, who was on the Madden NFL 07 video game cover, broke his foot and is out indefinitely. Barry Sanders 1999 cover retired before camp. Daunte Culpepper (2002) missed five games (knee). Marshall Faulk (2003) missed two games (ankle) and hasn't reached 1,000 yards since. Michael Vick (2004) missed 11 games (broken leg). Ray Lewis (2005) missed one game and it was the only season he has not had an interception. Donovan McNabb (2006) missed seven games (sports hernia).

FACEOFF

With an 0-3 record, a rookie quarterback and a tough schedule ahead, can the Bucs still make the playoffs?
