Pan Am puts last of debts to rest

The iconic airline hasn't flown in 15 years, but will honor itscommitment to former employees by mailing out checks for back pay in December.

New airline arrives at St. Pete-Clearwater

A new airline called Fly Mission Air will begin flights from St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport to Columbus, Ohio, and Indianapolis on Nov.3. The carrier will make one round-trip flight between each of the cities four days a week. Round-trip fares start at $198 to Indianapolis and $208 to Columbus. 'Casino Royale' crew to get paychecks

Crew members of the Casino Royale will receive most of their back pay this week as part of a deal to keep the ship from being seized and sold at auction, says the crew's attorney. The ship's management company, Tenmark Marine of Orlando, deposited three-quarters of about $230,000 in back pay into an account for the crew, said attorney Michael Black, and agreed to pay the rest by Oct. 22. Ocean's 21 LCC of Treasure Island plans to operate the ship as a floating casino off the Pinellas County coast upon U.S. Coast Guard certification to carry passengers.

 

Tampa, Fort Lauderdale to swap cruise ships

Tampa will get a new Carnival Cruise Lines ship and lose its sister vessel as part of a home port swap next spring. The Carnival Legend will start making seven-day Caribbean cruises from the Port of Tampa on April15. The Carnival Miracle, shown above, will leave Tampa on April 1 and begin Caribbean cruises from New York through spring and summer, and from Fort Lauderdale in the fall and winter season. The ships share an identical design and both carry 2,124 passengers, but they have different interior designs and entertainment offerings.

John Snow named to Marathon Oil board

Former U.S. Treasury Secretary John Snow, left, has been elected to the board of directors of Marathon Oil Corp., officials announced Wednesday. Snow, 67, served as Treasury secretary from February 2003 to June. He also served in the Department of Transportation during the administration of former President Gerald Ford. Before becoming Treasury secretary, Snow was chairman and chief executive officer of CSX Corp.
