Tonight's games

Published September 29, 2006

All start at 7:30 p.m.

East Lake (4-1) at Dunedin (3-1): The Eagles have been flying under the radar, using their ball-control offense, smothering defense and opportunistic special teams to roll along. They'll need all three phases of their game to be on against the Falcons, who are still smarting from last week's loss to Largo.

Putnam: Dunedin; Wright: Dunedin

Boca Ciega (3-2) at Osceola (3-1): The Pirates haven't had much success against the Warriors, losing two of the past three meetings.

Putnam: Osceola; Wright: Osceola

Northeast (4-1) at Lakewood (2-2): The Spartans have been vulnerable against the run, not a good thing considering they are going up against the Vikings three-headed rushing attack.

Putnam: Northeast; Wright: Northeast

Seminole (1-3) at Dixie Hollins (1-3): Which team will turn the corner? The Warhawks are healthy and have played some close games. The Rebels have looked bad, but they have played a tougher schedule.

Putnam: Dixie Hollins; Wright: Seminole

Clearwater (1-4) at Countryside (5-0): The Cougars are cruising along with a potent offense that averages 34 points per game. The defense is just as strong. It's all simply too much for the Tornadoes.

Putnam: Countryside; Wright: Countryside

Pinellas Park (0-5) at St. Petersburg (2-2): The Green Devils lose one week, then win the next. This is their week to lose, but we think they break that trend.

Putnam: St. Petersburg Wright: St. Petersburg

Largo (4-0) at Gibbs (0-4): This game isn't a gimme. The Packers have struggled against the Gladiators, losing the past two meetings. But we've got a hunch that changes tonight.

Putnam: Largo; Wright: Largo

Springstead (2-2) at Tarpon Springs (1-4): Spongers can turn around the season with a district win.

Putnam: Tarpon Springs; Wright: Tarpon Springs

Northside Chr. (3-1) at Admiral Farragut (1-3 ): The Mustangs have two shutouts. The Blue Jackets have been shut out three times. Enough said.

Putnam: Northside Chr.; Wright: Northside Chr.

Calvary Chr. (2-2) at Tampa Baptist (2-2): Give the nod to the Warriors, who have more experience.

Putnam: Calvary; Wright: Calvary

CC Catholic (3-2) at Berkeley Prep (0-4): Don't let the records fool you. The Buccaneers have played a brutal schedule. But the Marauders have too much depth.

Putnam: CCC; Wright: CCC

Indian Rocks Chr. (2-3) at Shorecrest (3-2): The Chargers have won three of their past four. That momentum should continue.

Putnam: Shorecrest; Wright: IRC

Tampa Catholic (4-1) at SPC (1-4): The Crusaders are still seething after the Barons called a timeout with seconds remaining to kick a field goal in last year's game to make it 30-12 SPC. The payback comes tonight.

Putnam: Tampa Catholic; Wright: Tampa Catholic

Keswick Chr. (5-0) at Cambridge (2-2), Sat.: The Crusaders have shut out their past three opponents. Can they make it four in a row?

Putnam: Keswick; Wright: Keswick

Putnam: 53-12 Wright: 49-16
