Make home cozy, but energy efficient

From 11 a.m. to noon today, the Pinellas County Extension and Progress Energy will offer a program, "Secrets for a Comfortable Home," at the Home Depot, 10689 Ulmerton Road, Largo.

Learn how to cut your utility bills, plug air leaks, evaluate your insulation needs and select a new heating system.

Batten down for winter

From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at Lowe's stores, energy-saving information and samples of Energy Star products that meet federal efficiency guidelines will be on display. In October, clinics will be at 1 p.m. each Saturday, teaching customers how to winterize their homes and save energy.

Condo operations class

A free course on condo association operations will be from 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 18 at the La Quinta Inn & Conference Center, 21338 U.S. 19 N, Clearwater.

The course covers self-management, bidding, maintenance, accounting, legal services and board meetings. The course is offered by the Suncoast chapter of the Community Associations Institute, a nonprofit organization that educates and represents owners, professionals and service providers of condos, co-ops and homeowner associations.
