Brit attacks roomie over 'bloody alarm clock'

By THOMAS LAKE
Published September 30, 2006

ZEPHYRHILLS - Nigel Turner hails from Maidstone, Kent, in England, and a Pasco County Sheriff’s report says he admitted to briefly choking his roommate. “I went in and throttled him,” he said. But Turner had an excuse: the other man had overslept and failed to silence “the bloody alarm clock.” A deputy responded to 6439 Ohio St. around 9 a.m. Friday to find William Engel with a faint reddish mark on his neck. According to the report, Turner, 45, said he didn’t mean to harm his roommate. No matter. He was arrested on a charge of simple domestic battery and remained in the Land O’ Lakes jail on Saturday in lieu of $500 bail.
