TALLAHASSEE - Florida State quarterback Drew Weatherford drew cheers for throwing a key block on a running play during 11-on-11 drills Saturday.

The Seminoles had a morning workout on their off week and focused on preparations for Thursday's conference game against North Carolina State.

"Sometimes when you have an open weekend, it's the hardest time to get motivation out of everyone," coach Bobby Bowden said. "But they picked it up a little bit today so that's good.

"Nobody got hurt. (Offensive lineman Shannon) Boatman is still out right now. I hope he'll be ready by Thursday but he couldn't practice."

Boatman, who injured his knee Thursday, said he expects to practice today.

"I decided to rest today," he said. "I didn't feel like I could go full-speed."

Marcus Simms had a touchdown in 11-on-11 drills and two in short yardage drills.
