Travelers wants to cover you - sort of

From our "Ask Them About Homeowners Insurance Dept." comes this: Travelers Insurance Co. and the American Safety Council say they've joined forces to provide the state's first stand-alone identity-theft insurance policies. Coverage includes money stolen up to $30,000, in addition to lost wages and attorney fees. The cost ranges from $50 to $80 a year.

American Safety Council of Orlando sells, among other things, online driver safety courses. And Travelers, which operates in Florida under the name First Floridian, writes, among other things, property insurance.

After dropping several thousand commercial policies, Travelers asked state regulators for a 70 percent average rate increase for its homeowners policies.
