Registration deadline looms for voters

NEW PORT RICHEY - The deadline to register to vote is Tuesday for the Nov. 7 election. Voters will select a governor and U.S. senator as well as filling County Commission, School Board and judicial posts. To register, call the Pasco County Supervisor of Elections Office toll-free at 1-800-851-8754 or visit the Web site at pascovotes.com.

Spending approved for aquatic complex restrooms

NEW PORT RICHEY - City Council members on Tuesday approved $232,070 to build additional bathrooms at the new aquatic complex. The bathrooms are necessary to bring the $14.1-million complex in line with Florida Health Department codes, which require a certain number of bathrooms within 200 feet of public swimming pools. The money will come from a contingency fund and from cost-saving modifications already made, said City Manager Scott Miller.

CORRECTION

- Chuck Rushe, who died Tuesday, was the chief financial officer of Pasco County schools. A headline Wednesday said he was the former CFO.

- The $49,000 approved by New Port Richey City Council last month represented only a portion of the costs associated with adding bathrooms to the new aquatic facility. A Sept. 12 story incorrectly reported that amount was the full cost of building the extra bathrooms.
