Best feet forward to outrun cancer

By TIMES STAFF WRITER
Published October 5, 2006

As many as 15,000 people will hit the pavement in downtown St. Petersburg Saturday morning as part of the annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.

The 5K run and walk, which starts at 8 a.m. in Vinoy Park, is expected to raise about $1-million for cancer research.

The Komen walk is just one of dozens of walks and races in the coming months that will raise money and awareness for a variety of diseases and causes. To find other ways to participate, contact your favorite charity or watch the calendars in future editions of Weekend.
