Paradise in plastic foam cup

By S.I. ROSENBAUM
Published October 6, 2006

You know IT when you find IT: it's something unique, something out-of-the-way, something you could find only at one particular set of coordinates. It could be a masterful pedicure, a perfect waffle, a surly waiter, a greasy spoon. Divine or just delightfully dreadful, it's something that reminds you why you live here. This week we're debuting the Brandon & South Shore Times It List. We encourage you to send us your own picks, finds and hidden treasures. E-mail us at brandon@sptimes.com.

The shake costs $2, and comes in a plastic foam cup handed to you through a sliding glass window at Collins Produce.

Stay here to drink it. Sit with your elbows on the sticky, peeling linoleum that covers the picnic tables.

Don't take the top off that plastic foam cup. The drink is so good, you don't want to know how much is left.

Sometimes you suck on the straw and nothing comes up. That's because you've hit a chunk of fresh strawberry or peach. When you're finished, you'll take off the top and tilt the cup, let the ice-cold fruit slide into your mouth.

Heaven on a Valrico picnic bench. Nirvana at a fruit stand.

Summer in a plastic foam cup - any time of the year.

Collins Produce is at 2810 State Road 60, Valrico.
