Games at a glance

Published October 6, 2006

Hernando 1-4 at Springstead (2-3)

Time: 7:30

LAST WEEK: Both teams dropped their district openers: Hernando in a 13-7 lost to Crystal River, Springstead in a 31-13 loss to Tarpon Springs.

This week: Neither team has gotten off to the start it desired, but county games are always big. Springstead has a little more balance in its attack than Hernando, but the Leopards have been running the ball extremely well this season.

THE PICK: Springstead.

Poinciana (0-6) at Nature Coast (4-1)

Time: 7:30

Last week: Nature Coast barely broke a sweat while dominating Lecanto 61-0. Poinciana fell 14-12 to Celebration.

This week: Nature Coast has an excellent chance to extend its blistering start. Poinciana has won just two games since the start of the 2002 season.

The PICK: Nature Coast

Tampa Baptist (2-3) at Hernando Christian (3-3)

Time: 4 p.m.

Last week: HCA won its second straight game, defeating Lighthouse Christian 22-12. Tampa Baptist fell 6-0 to Calvary Christian.

this week: HCA could have its hands full attempting to tackle Rams running back Matt Reynolds, who entered last week's loss to Calvary Christian averaging 6 yards per carry.

The PICK: Tampa Baptist
