3,000 poll workers needed for elections Pinellas County Supervisor of Elections Deborah Clark is looking for more poll workers for the Nov. 7 general election. A countywide election requires more than 3,000 poll workers, and openings are available throughout the county. Poll worker training is under way for the general election. Class schedules vary, depending on the duty assigned. A clerk or machine manager is required to take a four-hour general class, plus a 2½-hour equipment class with more extensive training about the voting machines. Clerks must also attend a one-hour class the day before the election to pick up their materials. Inspectors, provisional ballot managers and deputies are required to take a three-hour class in order to work on Election Day. Total pay for election work and classes depends on the poll worker position. Call 727464-6110, or visit www.votepinellas.com and click on Poll Worker Information. The time of the orientation is varied to accommodate the schedule of prospective volunteers. Guardians ad litem speak on behalf of abused, abandoned or neglected children in Pinellas County courts.
