LECANTO - The Panthers were no match for The Villages' Rashad Jackson, who scored four touchdowns.
Lecanto's defense came up big early but couldn't hold on as poor field positioning and a lack of offensive movement hurt the Panthers.
Lecanto (0-6) recovered a Villages' fumble on the opening kickoff. After failing to capitalize on the offensive drive, Lecanto's Mikel Allen broke up a Brian Hinkle bomb to junior Garret Ginn that could have set up a touchdown for The Villages early in the game. Then, senior Nate Richards sacked Hinkle twice.
With 1 minute, 19 seconds to go in the first quarter, Lecanto failed to stop The Villages on fourth-and-inches from the 10-yard line as Kenny Dyson scored on a right-side sweep for a 7-0 lead.
On Lecanto's next drive, senior Jon Klabacka ran for 17 yards, the Panthers' longest of the night. But after earning another first down, The Villages held Allen for a loss of six followed by a Mike Scales sack.
The Villages (5-2) opened it up as Jackson scored on runs of 2 and 4 yards and touchdown receptions of 33 and 20 yards. Hinkle then connected with Ginn on a 40-yarder for his third touchdown pass.
Tanner Edwards topped off the scoring with a 5-yard run in the fourth.
Lecanto finished the night with 35 yards of total offense from 36 carries.
