Economic groups may partner

The Economic Development Council could get help in its hunt for an executive director.

CRYSTAL RIVER - In the search for a new Economic Development Council executive director, the EDC may join forces with CLM Workforce Connection.

At a special meeting of the EDC executive committee Thursday, CLM Workforce executive vice president Rusty Skinner said his organization may be able to help fund a full-time position. That could forge a stronger partnership between the two groups and help local businesses more, he said.

Skinner and EDC officials will meet again in two weeks to discuss the possibility.

Current EDC executive director Brett Wattles has said he will not seek renewal of his contract when it expires in February. He works part time and makes $64,260 annually.
