Halloween celebrations at local bowling centers usually bring about a handful of exhibition tournaments. This year is no exception. Parkview Lanes in Holder hosts the Parkview Coffee Club for bowling every Monday, Wednesday and Friday year round at 9:15 a.m. There are varying cash payoffs depending on the number of participants, and Dunkin' Donuts helps by sponsoring the group with free food and coffee. To participate, the entry fee is only $7.50 per bowler. On Oct. 30, the club will celebrate the holiday by featuring a costume competition. Bowlers who wear Halloween attire will be eligible for special awards. Sportsman's Bowl in Inverness is holding its Halloween Senior Tournament Oct. 24 at 11 a.m. All competitors 55 and older are eligible to participate for an entry fee of $9. The format for the tournament will be 8-pin no-tap. No handicap will be assessed, and no entrant has to be a U.S. Bowling Congress member to compete. Neffer's Bowl in Homosassa is holding a Halloween party Oct. 28 that will feature costume contests, Halloween games and other prizes. Entry is $15 for adults and $10 for children. That fee covers unlimited bowling. The party begins at 8:30 p.m. Manatee Lanes in Crystal River holds a similar event that same Saturday. In the same format as the bowling center's weekly Vertiglow event, the party will feature costume contests and prizes will be given away in celebration of the holiday. Bowlers will rent a lane for $27.50 and bowl an unlimited amount over the course of their shift. There will be two shifts. The first shift begins at 7:30 p.m. and ends at 10 p.m., and the second shift immediately follows at 10:30 p.m. until 1 a.m. NEFFER'S HIGH SCORES: During the Oct. 5 meeting of the Wednesday Night Men's League, Matt Ivkovic, a Citrus notebook regular, shot another high game. Ivkovic finished with a second game 298 on his way to a 779 series. Fellow league member Terry Austin shot a 287 game that same evening. PARKVIEW BINGO: Parkview Lanes held its monthly Bingo Roll-Off last weekend. Top winners from the event included Ken Smith, Wes Foley and Andre Boetius, each walking away with $50 for their efforts. Runnerups included Ives Chavez, Chuck Eyerly and Diane Thompson, who each took home $40.
