Hernando (1-5) at Lecanto (0-6)
LAST WEEK: Hernando had its most frustrating loss of the season, allowing a Springstead winning drive that resulted in a 32-yard field goal with less than 30 seconds to play. Lecanto lost 48-0 to the Villages, its third shutout of the season.
this week: Though Hernando has lost five straight games, the Leopards are just 0-1 in Class 3A, District 6, meaning they control their destiny. Struggling Lecanto provides a good opportunity to get back on the winning track.
The PICK: Hernando.
Springstead (3-3) at Central (4-2)
last week: Springstead struggled for three-and-a-half quarters, yet put together an impressive drive and pulled out a come-from-behind 17-16 win over reeling Hernando. Central had a bye week.
this week: Springstead must find a way to stop Central running back DuJuan Harris, who must have been licking his lips while watching Hernando junior George Fribley run roughshod over the Eagles last week for 203 yards.
THe PICK: Central
Nature Coast (5-1) at Citrus (3-3)
Last week: Nature Coast steam-rolled Poinciana 40-7 as freshman running back Tevin Drake burst on the scene with a 203-yard, three-touchdown performance. Citrus beat Lake Weir 23-12.
this week: We'll see just how far Nature Coast has improved over last season. This game could very well decide the district. The home-field advantage plays in Citrus' favor.
The PICK: Citrus
Hernando Christian (4-3) at Lakeland Christian (3-1)
Last week: Hernando Christian and Lakeland Christian both won their third straight game. HCA beat Tampa Baptist 21-8, while Lakeland beat Central Florida Christian 21-7.
this week: The teams have one common opponent: Central Florida Christian. HCA lost to CFC, LCA won. Plus, any football team with Lakeland in its name has to be good, right?
The PICK: Lakeland Christian
