BROOKSVILLE - Police are looking for a man who tried to abduct a 14-year-old girl in Brooksville on Wednesday. Police Lt. Richard Hankins said the girl was walking north along Howell Avenue in the area of Florida Avenue about 3:30 p.m. The girl saw a small, silver car - possibly a Honda - pass her several times. The car pulled up behind her, Hankins said, and the driver got out. He told her to come with him and grabbed her shirt sleeve. The girl pulled away and ran home. The man followed in his car. Once she got into her front yard, police said, the driver left. He is described as a white man in his late 20s, about 5-foot-7 with a thin build and short, straight dark hair. He has bushy eye brows, and a tan complexion. Anyone with information can call the anonymous tips line at 754-6825.
