LECANTO - Wearing a black cap emblazoned with an "H," George Fribley celebrated postgame Friday night with hardly a drop of sweat on his forehead.
The Hernando junior running back did not play a down in the second half.
Instead, he watched the second string finish a 27-0 victory against Lecanto (0-7, 0-3 Class 3A, District 6).
Still, Fribley did plenty in the first half, carrying seven times for 132 yards and two touchdowns.
Missed tackles plagued the Panthers, especially on their third touchdown, a shifty 44-yard gain by Fribley in the second quarter.
That was a special play, Fribley said through a toothy smile.
"I think it was student body right," he said, declining to elaborate. "I ain't gonna give you no plays."
Fribley made just one mistake, fumbling a punt return early in the first quarter. In all, the Leopards lost four fumbles - the only blemish of an otherwise perfect night.
Afterward, Hernando (2-5, 1-1) celebrated its reemergence in the district title race, as coach Matt Smith cautioned his team against becoming too confident.
"We have to enjoy this one, and come Monday we've got to get back to work for Nature Coast," he said.
Meanwhile, Fribley, who had spent most of the night begging his coach to let him return to the game, had other plans.
He was going to Applebee's for a late-night celebration.
"I'm hungry," he said.
