BROOKSVILLE - Sheriff's deputies were searching for three people and two cars that may be involved in several shootings in the county, officials said Sunday.

Deputies received reports of gunshots in the area of Martin Luther King Boulevard and Twiggs Street in Brooksville at 5 p.m. As they responded, another call was received that a man had been shot in the back at 816 Twiggs St. The man was taken to a hospital by helicopter, where authorities said he is listed in serious condition.

Deputies found a 1989 maroon Chevy truck crashed at School Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard with several bullet holes in it. Deputies were told that a small red car was chasing the truck.

A man was found bleeding from the head on St. Francis Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard shortly after the crashed truck was found. He was taken to a hospital.

Deputies are looking for a 1980 red Nissan car with a rope tied around either the trunk or the hood. The car was occupied by three men, authorities said. They were believed to have an automatic weapon.

Deputies are also looking for a gray Geo Prism with tinted windows.

The people of interest are Michael Worthen, a black male known as "Bo" who may have been shot in the leg; Marcus Tyree Barnes, 25, known as "Hitman"; and Isaiah Steward Jr., 33, also known as "Ike" or "Ikeboy."

The Sheriff's Office is not releasing the names of the victims.
