Stayin' Alive: Area volleyball teams try to punch their tickets to the postseason as they participate in the Class 4A, District 8 and 5A-7 tournaments. We'll have coverage all week. The 4A-8 semis are today, finals Thursday. In 5A-7, Central faces Land O' Lakes in a semifinal Wednesday. The final is Thursday.
A Bad Day Of Golf ... : Is better than a good day at school. Just ask any of the area athletes participating in region action this week. Keep an eye on the Central boys team, which plays in the Class 2A, Region 2 tournament today.
Break Out The Visine: The red eyes will be numerous as area athletes take to the pool for district swimming tournaments. The A-3 meet is Wednesday in Clermont and the 2A-5 meet is Friday in Hudson.

Last But Not Least: Futbol Americano. Hernando is 2-5. Nature Coast is 6-1. But nothing will be taken for granted when the teams square off Friday. Nature Coast can secure its first ever district title with a win. Hernando, meanwhile, needs to win to keep its postseason hopes alive. Other games include River Ridge at Springstead and Central at South Lake.
