Bids fall short for Chapman, Jensen in 2A-5

BRADENTON - Seminole's Meghan Chapman was having an uneven day on the golf course.
"It seemed like it was just a struggle all day," Chapman said. "I'd birdie one hole, then bogey the next."
Still, the junior managed to shoot 72 and force a tie with Bradenton Manatee's Maria Ronderos at the Class 2A, Region 5 tournament.
Both were dispatched to the first hole of a sudden-death playoff to decide who would advance to next week's state tournament.
That's when Chapman's day ended on a downer.
She lost by a stroke on the second hole. Chapman was done in on the second hole when her bunker shot was off target.
"It was tough," Chapman said. "My adrenaline took over and I flew the green."
Largo's Evan Jensen, the county's other state hopeful, also missed the cut.
Jensen was in contention until she three-putted two of her last three holes to finish at 74.
"It was frustrating because I missed 4-foot putts on the 15th, 16th and 17th holes," said Jensen, who won the region last year and was state runnerup two years ago.
