A former Pinellas Park High School teacher was sentenced to nearly eight years in prison for asking some of his female students to send him nude photos of themselves. Jason M. Hooper, 31, pleaded no contest Friday to 15 combined charges of using a child in a sexual performance; seduction of a child via computer; transmission of material harmful to minors; and possession of child pornography. As part of a plea agreement, Hooper will serve seven years and nine months in prison, though he will receive nearly 10 months off that sentence for time he has served in jail since his arrest, court records show. He also was designated as a sexual offender and must serve 10 years of probation after his release from prison.

Woman kidnapped, husband injured

Police are searching for three men who kidnapped a woman early Tuesday and shot her husband in the leg. The three broke into an apartment at 5055 S Dale Mabry Highway at 12:21 a.m., police say. The men tied up Myron Woyd, 20, and forced his mother, Sylvia B. Wright, 43, into her 1996 maroon Jeep Cherokee. The men made Wright call her husband and tell him her car broke down at MacDill Avenue and Paul Avenue. No one has been arrested.
