Task force to address how to deal with bullying Looking to deal with the problem of bullying, the Hernando School Board is putting together a task force. Barbara Smith, coordinator of Student Services, heads the new program, which came about when Robin Gibson, behavior analyst for the district, brought some ideas back from a summer conference dealing with homicide, suicides and other violence in schools. Gibson felt strongly that a proactive posture is appropriate for all schools in all districts. Smith is talking with guidance counselors, social workers and school psychologists to create a plan and goals. They'll address several questions, including: What are the differences between bullying, harassment and teasing? What are the best ways to change the paths of both victims and bullies before a crisis erupts? How can problems be recognized early and averted?
