Local comes up just short in NABI action

St. Petersburg's Lori Lloyd narrowly lost to Sarasota's Rick Gauzza 179-174 in the NABI semifinals of Club 577's outing at AMF Lakeland last Sunday. For her 165 average and third-place finish, Lloyd won $20.

Gauzza finished second after Ken Matthews of Bartow finished the weekend with a high average of 175 in first.

This Sunday, 577 will be at Orange Bowl Lanes at 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. for a shot at a $100 jackpot and a $60 strike-pot. For more information, call 863667-4779 or visit centralflorida.bowlnabi.com. On Sunday, Kulick, the first woman to earn a full-season exemption on tour, will appear on This Week with George Stephanopoulos at 10:30 a.m. on ABC. The first telecast of the season also airs Sunday, as Williams' historic win over Weber in the Dydo Japan Cup can be seen at 1 p.m. on ESPN.

The Tour's first live telecast is Oct. 29 at 1 p.m. as the finals of the USBC Masters takes place at the Wisconsin Exposition Center in Milwaukee. CHATTER: Within the past month at Countryside, Walt Coddington has had series of 750, 752, 775, and 788, including two 300s. He is averaging 241 and 240 in two leagues That's consistency. Seminole average busters Kenneth Peel (134 average, 234), Jim Broughton (158 average, 225/622) and Susan Donahue (122 average, 200) made the house a little happier last week.
