BROOKSVILLE 

A New Generation, formerly A Women's Resource Center, will host a luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 26 at Max Grill, in the Best Western on Cortez Boulevard at Interstate 75.

The theme will be "Preserving Our Future Generation," with Hillsborough County Commissioner Ronda Storms speaking.

WEEKI WACHEE

Learn firearms safety at Sportsman's Club

The Hernando Sportsman's Club will host a course in firearms safety at 9 a.m. Saturday at the club's range, off U.S. 19 in the Chassahowitzka Wildlife Management Area, about 9 miles north of Weeki Wachee.

The class, which is about five hours, including range time, qualifies participants to receive an application for a carry permit.

The cost is $40. Class size is limited, and preregistration is required. Call 597-9931.

Coast Guard Auxiliary offering GPS program

The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary will offer a Navigating with GPS program from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

Participants will learn how Global Positioning System receivers work and review navigational fundamentals.

Those who have a GPS should bring it. Those who do not should not purchase one until after taking this course.

The cost of taking the program is $30.
