Brooksville

Nature Coast hosts garden-themed events

The Nature Coast Botanical Gardens will host the following:

- A free program on fall gardening will be presented from 9:30 a.m. to noon Oct. 28. At 10 a.m., Marie "The Plant Lady" from WWJB radio will speak on gardening in the fall, followed by a question-and-answer session.

Visitors can also stroll through the 17 themed gardens at the botanical gardens, which are sponsored by the Spring Hill Garden Club.

- A "Tour de Gardens" family fun bike run will be Nov. 4. Registration will begin at 9 a.m., and bicycle riders will vote for favorite yards along the route. The event will include food, music and prizes. A bike safety clinic hosted by Bike Worx will be at 1:30 p.m.

All proceeds from registration fees, T-shirts, food and drink sales will benefit the botanical gardens.

Grab your partner for Clover Leaf dancing

The Clover Leaf Leprechauns will begin their square dancing season Nov. 5.

Square dancing will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sundays at the Heather House at Clover Leaf Farms, 910 N Broad St.

Ridge Manor West

Muscle Car Club show is free for spectators

The Sunshine State Muscle Car Club will host a car show from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 12 at Shakers Grille, 31077 Cortez Blvd. in Ridge Manor West.

The cost to register a car in the show is $12 in advance and $15 on the day of the show. Trophies and prizes will be awarded. Admission is free for spectators and visitors.

Spring Hill

Boy Scouts event has field sports contests

The Boy Scouts of America, West Central Florida Council will host the second annual Sand Hill Scout Reservation Turkey Shoot Fundraiser at 8 a.m. Nov. 4. The scout reservation is at 11210 Cortez Blvd.

For $125, participants will receive enough shot gun shells to shoot both skeet and trap, a cap and lunch. For $25, participants receive 10 shots using provided 22-inch rifles on the rifle range, competing for a turkey certificate. Also for $25, participates can compete for a turkey certificate on the archery range, using bow and arrows with field tips (must bring your own bow and arrows). Competitions for both rifle and bow and arrow competitions will be in groups of 10, with winners selected from each group. To complete in all four competitions, the cost is $150.

Trophies will be awarded to the top team of five shooters and the top individual in skeet, trap, rifle and archery shooting.

Funds raised will be used to enhance the field sports complex (skeet, trap, rifle and archery ranges) area of the Sand Hill Scout Reservation. For information, call Don at 544-2450 or Joan at 799-0556.

Weeki Wachee

Hernando Harmonizers celebrate five years

The Hernando Harmonizers will present their fifth anniversary show at 2 p.m. Nov. 11 at Nativity Lutheran Church, 6363 Commercial Way.

The concert will feature the men's barbershop chorus and its Sunset and Pine Chords quartets. Also included will be Ken Grube as Elvis Presley and two children's barbershop quartets.

Traditional, gospel and patriotic songs will be performed.

Advance tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students. Tickets at the door will be $12 for adults and $6 for students.

Nature Coast needs trophies for car show

The Nature Coast Corvette Club is seeking trophy sponsors for the Toys for Tots Car and Motorcycle Show it will sponsor Dec. 3 at Weeki Wachee Springs.

Sponsors will receive public acknowledgment when the trophy is awarded. Trophy sponsorships are $20 and business choice awards are $50.

Save spots for Lodge's New Year's Eve bash

Aripeka Elks Lodge 2520 is now taking reservations for the New Year's Eve event on Dec. 31 at the lodge, 9135 Denton Ave.

Tickets are $50 per person, which includes a prime rib dinner at 8 p.m., beverages and breakfast at 1 a.m. Music and dancing will start at 9 p.m. Hats and favors are included. Doors will open at 7 p.m.
