TAMPA - County and school records just keep on coming for Land O'Lakes.
One weekend after sweeping the Sunshine Athletic Conference meet - the fourth time that has happened in the county and a first in school history - the Gators did it again.
In Saturday's Class 2A, District 5 meet at Berkeley Prep, the boys won a third straight title and the girls won their first crown at that level.
"Girls? Girls won? Oh my God," Land O'Lakes boys coach Barbara Hayes said before running around the pool to find her counterpart for the girls team.
"It's one thing to win it," Land O'Lakes girls coach Robin Hilgenberg said. "To be in shock is another thing. This is just too much."
The competition featured teams from Pasco, Hernando and Citrus counties. In the boys meet, Land O'Lakes totaled 493 points, followed by Lecanto 256 and Citrus (221). Lecanto was also the girls runnerup with 361 points, 20 behind Land O'Lakes. Central (253) took third.
Both Land O'Lakes coaches said depth (32 girls and 21 boys) keyed their respective team's victories. The girls did not win an event, and the boys won three relays (200-meter medley, 200 freestyle and 400 free), with Tim Olson (100 backstroke) and Brad Morrison (500 free) adding individual wins.
Leading Lecanto were double winners Taylor Cooke and Chelsea Peterson. Cooke defended titles in the 200 free and 500 free, and Peterson was a first-time district champion in the 50 free and 100 free.
Other individual double winners were River Ridge's Dimitri Arnaoutis (100 free, 200 free), Central's Rae-Lynn Sheffield (200 individual medley, 100 breaststroke) and Springstead's Dan Barry (50 free, 100 butterfly).
Central's McGeehan sisters each won a race, with Mary Alice taking the 100 fly and Elizabeth the 100 backstroke.
