Citrus County School Board members will tour three school campuses today as part of a plan to improve outdated facilities in the district. Crystal River Elementary School and Crystal River High School are in serious disrepair and may need to be renovated or rebuilt, according to an outside consulting group that surveyed the district's facilities this year. Inverness Middle School has had some repair work but still has major problems. The tour starts at 9:30 a.m. at Crystal River High. The board will later convene in the main district office to discuss the district's attendance policy. At 6 p.m., the public is invited to a forum at the Lecanto High School cafeteria. District staff will make a presentation about random drug testing at the high schools and take questions. The board will vote on the proposal this year.

Free bird walk set for Saturday

Novice and experienced birders can meet at 7:45 a.m. Saturday to take a free guided bird walk on Pepper Creek Trail at the Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park, 4150 S Suncoast Blvd. The walk will be from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Bring binoculars and field guide if you have them. This leisurely paced walk is on an accessible paved trail winding through a hydric hammock along Pepper Creek. Call the park office at 628-5343, ext. 102.

Food distribution set for Wednesday

El-Shaddai food ministries will sponsor a brown bag food distribution from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Crystal River Church of God, 2180 W 12th Ave. Bags contain food from the U.S. Department of Agriculture and donations. Food can be delivered to the home-bound and, if necessary, you can pick food up for a friend. This is temporary assistance to needy families, and recipients must meet these weekly household income guidelines:

- One person, less than $240.

- Two people, less than $321.

- Three people, less than $403.

- Four people, less than $484.

For information, call 795-3079.

Correction

The Night of the Bravo Awards was an event held by the Citrus County Art League. An item in Sunday's Citrus Times attributed it to another group.
