Feather Sound Country Club's senior 3.0 men's team leaves this week for the USTA National Senior League Championships in Tucson, Ariz. Captain Pat Augustine said he believes the local competition helped prepare the team for nationals, especially the matchups against Countryside. "We've got a couple of solid teams, and we plan to get everyone in to play," he said. The team has prepared by competing in the men's 6.5 combo doubles and the 7.0 mixed doubles leagues and practicing on the hard courts at area clubs. "We've drilled some on the hard courts, but when you get down to it, it's still tennis," Augustine said. "One of the advantages on hard courts that I do like is that you get a much truer bounce. You can really depend on where the ball is going unlike on the soft courts." Also on the team are: Dan Diloreto, George Ditzel, Chip Frey, Tom Riley, Roger Rogers, Terry Sandman, Blane Sherk, Bob Shuck and Tom Schultz.
