A 35-year-old bank manager accused of helping a man rob the branch she oversaw is in jail. Deputies say Bibi Lall gave Paul Richard Mays, 43, information about the daily operations of Trustco Bank to help him with a holdup Oct. 21. Lall, 5335 31st Circle E No. 104 in Bradenton, was arrested late Monday and was being held at Orient Road Jail in lieu of $30,000 bail. She is charged with accessory after the fact. Deputies have a warrant for Mays, who they say entered the bank at 205 Apollo Beach Blvd. at 1 p.m., demanded money from the safe, forced a victim into a closet and tied the employees' hands. Anyone with information is asked to call the Hillsborough Sheriff's Office at (813) 247-8200. Fired teacher now is arrested, too By his own admission, Monday was a bad day for Hernando County School Board candidate Richard McDermott, who spent the afternoon fielding media calls about his firing as a teacher in the Hernando County School District. But Tuesday was even worse: He was arrested on a charge of passing a bad check. Police said McDermott was arrested at 1:35 p.m. on a single misdemeanor warrant charge for paying a $75 check to Publix on insufficient funds on May 17. McDermott could not be reached for comment Tuesday. As they searched, sailor was on land Charles Jackson drifted into the Gulf Sunday morning on a 6-foot boat with a rainbow-colored sail. He told his wife he'd be gone four hours. When he didn't show, she called authorities. The Coast Guard searched for Jackson, 35, a New Port Richey resident, over two days and nights, through choppy seas and 20-mph winds, with three boats, three helicopters and a C-130 airplane. On Tuesday morning, Jackson came home. He'd been towed to Hudson on Sunday, where he'd been staying with a friend the past two nights. He had never called his wife. "A 25-cent phone call would have saved $100,000," said Coast Guard Petty Officer First Class Tasha Tully, referring to the cost of the search, which was also conducted by the Pasco County Sheriff's Office. Jackson refused comment.
