Fourth-graders will take coins to help UNICEF

On Halloween night, some children will want more than treats when they come to the door. Fourth-graders in four Forest Lakes Elementary classes will collect spare change to help UNICEF. It started with one mother reminiscing about collecting for UNICEF. Rhonda Weiss of Oldsmar said her daughter Breanna, 8, listened and her eyes grew big. "Mommy, I want to do that, too," Breanna said. Before long, her class and three others did, too. Weiss picked up collection boxes at Pier 1 Imports and made fliers for the children's neighborhoods. "The children are just so proud and excited," Weiss said, "that they can do something to change the world." Any child is welcome to collect for UNICEF, and collection boxes are available at Pier 1 and Hallmark Gold Crown stores. Coinstar is participating, with sorting machines that will make handling the coins easier. For more information, visit www.pg.com/_unicef.
