Spartans remain dominant

TAMPA - The Spartans beat rival Barry 3-0 in volleyball Saturday to improve to 27-1, 13-1 in the Sunshine State Conference .
Tampa ran its home winning streak to 31 matches, four shy of the school record.
Alisha Green and Katelen Dixon led Tampa with 13 kills apiece and were joined by Stephanie Rivera (12) in double figures.
Also: Host Saint Leo (20-8, 7-6 SSC) swept Nova Southeastern 3-0 to tie the school's single-season win mark. Outside hitter Audrey Starkebaum had 18 kills. The Lions also reached 20 wins in 1986 and 1999. ... Eckerd swept visiting Lynn 3-0. The Tritons (20-11, 7-6 SSC) reached 20 wins for just the third time in school history.
Men's basketball: USF held two scrimmage sessions, with junior center Kentrell Gransberry leading the way with 25 points and 15 rebounds for the Green squad, which beat the White 21-16 and 17-15. "I thought overall it was a good effort with a lot of positives," coach Robert McCullum said.
Swimming: The Florida State men's and women's teams remained perfect this season after the women defeated Florida Atlantic 187-112 and Florida International 245-51, and the men beat FAU 206-86 in Miami. Christie Raleigh led the women's team (4-0) with two individual wins: 200 fly (2 minutes, 1.63 seconds) and 50 free (23.43). For the men (2-0), Ian Powell recorded three individual event wins: 100 fly (50.51), 200 fly (1:49.71) and 200 back (1:49.11).
Cross Country: The Florida men finished second and the women finished fourth at the SEC championships in Baton Rouge, La. ... The Florida State men finished second at the ACC championships in Charlottesville, Va., while the women finished fourth.
