Dropping townhomes for apartments

M/I Homes of Tampa is asking permission to modify a 57-acre planned development on Bryan Road between Williams Road and Interstate 75, changing 575 townhouses to the same number of apartments. Attorney Judith James, representing the developer, told a zoning hearing master in October that the modification would fall below the county's comprehensive plan density of 20 units an acre. The proposal goes to the County Commission on Dec. 12. PETITION 06-1963

Zoning for retail, offices proposed

Property owners Michael Abdoney and Edward Gorman are seeking to rezone 6 acres on the northeast corner of State Road 60 and St. Cloud Avenue for a retail and office complex. The change from agricultural and commercial zoning to a planned development would pave the way for a grocery store anchoring other retail, plus a multistory office building.

The proposed development would also host a bank, a convenience store with gas pumps, a "quality restaurant" and a fast-food restaurant. The request goes to county commissioners on Dec. 12. PETITION 06-1207
