Venu is a 50-story condo tower planned for Tampa.

Location: Southwest corner of Kennedy Boulevard and Ashley Drive.

Developer: Gibraltar Development Corp. of Clearwater.

Description: A 50-story condominium tower with 215 units and 3,200 square feet of retail space at ground level. Units range from 900 to 4,000 square feet. Floor plans include one-, two-, and three-bedroom units and six customizable penthouses. Some two-bedroom units will be built as two-story lofts.

Price: From the $400,000s to more than $3-million.

Architects: Alfonso Architects Inc. of Tampa.

Amenities: The building will have a fitness center, pool with private cabanas, climate-controlled storage, a 10-floor secured parking garage, and a two-story glass lobby. Residential units will have 10-foot floor-to-ceiling glass windows, stainless steel appliances, and choice of wood, granite, marble and glass surfaces.

What they're saying: A collection of original art will be exhibited in the two-story lobby overlooking the intersection of Kennedy Boulevard and Ashley Drive. "When we designed the base of the building, because [the intersection is] sort of Main and Main, we saw that as the living room of the city," said Albert Alfonso of Alfonso Architects Inc. Proposed plans for the room include large-scale works of art and a chandelier by glass artist Dale Chihuly, which will be "a beacon" at night to drivers and pedestrians downtown, he said.

Timeline: The project is expected to break ground in the second quarter of 2007. An on-site sales center will open in February.

Move-in date: Late 2009
