Broadway dancer Deanna Dys is coming to New Port Richey to give master classes and workshops in Broadway theater jazz and tap dancing. The master classes will be Saturday; the six-week jazz and tap workshops will be held Tuesdays through Dec. 12 at Sell's Broadway Dance Company studio. Studio owners Chris and Shanna Sell are longtime friends of Ms. Dys'. Ms. Dys made her Broadway debut in 1988, when she originated the roles of Cigarette Girl and Hotsy Totsy Girl in the musical Legs Diamond. She went on to be an original member of the musical Meet Me in St. Louis in 1989-90 and in the revival of Candide in 1997. Ms. Dys played Mrs. Schyler Adams in the Broadway revival of Annie Get Your Gun in 1999-2001 and was also understudy for the role of Dolly Tate. In her latest Broadway role, Ms. Dys originated the role of Rosalie in Saturday Night Fever and understudied for the roles of Flo Manero and Lucille. Originally from Michigan, Ms. Dys now lives in New York City. She was hired by David Merrick at age 16 to appear in 42nd Street at the North Shore Music Theatre in Beverly, Mass., and has been working as a dancer ever since. Her mother and grandparents live in St. Petersburg, where Ms. Dys frequently visits.
