Central Florida tourism hit a plateau last year, so two theme parks on Thursday revealed plans for new offerings.

Universal Orlando countered Walt Disney World’s Cirque du Soleil show by putting off-the-wall Blue Man Group in a remodeled Nickelodeon Studios for an unlimited run that begins in June. The almost two-hour show will cost $45 to $70 to see. z

Meanwhile, Cypress Gardens is expanding despite its recent Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing. Thanks to $15-million loan to keep operating, the Winter Haven park will open its sixth coaster -- the wooden Starliner that ran for 42 years at a defunct park in Panama City -- next June. Also next year, the park will open a themed kids area called Bugsville that features a live show, a climbing structure and 13 kiddie rides.
