Class 5A, District 11: Predicted order of finish

1. Lakewood: The Spartans return all but one player from team that advanced to the region final last year.
2. Boca Ciega: The Pirates are scrambling after losing some key players before the start of the season.
3. Seminole: The Warhawks have to fill the void left by all-county player of the year Chelsea Patterson, who graduated.
4. Dixie Hollins: The Rebels lost Sam Stine, who transferred, and will depend on the shooting of Tori Robinson.
5. Osceola: In this tough district, the Warriors can only hope to be among the top four.
6. Northeast: The Vikings lost badly to teams in the upper echelon and will try to rebound under new coach.
7. Gibbs: Gladiators coach Ed Jackson hopes last year's struggles will mean more postive results this season.

Nov. 30, Lakewood at Boca Ciega: This game could be a preview of the district final.
Dec. 14, Seminole at Boca Ciega: Important district game that could go a long way toward determining the No. 2 come tournament time.
Jan. 22, Clearwater at Lakewood: A rematch of last year's region semifinal the Spartans won.
Players to watch
Kquanise Byrd, Lakewood: The quick, athletic senior guard is the focal point on one of the county's most dominant teams.
Jazmyn Shorter, Lakewood: The defending state champion in the 400 meters, Shorter is valuable as an inside presence.
Ashley Williams, Boca Ciega: The Florida Institute of Technology signee takes on the leadership role with Tiffany Williams graduating and other players leaving.
Egypt Thomas, Seminole: The Warhawks' go-to girl averaged 16 points, seven assists and three steals last year.
