McCain confirms he's exploring presidency bid

Sen. John McCain, R- Ariz., confirmed Sunday on NBC's Meet the Press that he is taking the initial steps for a White House bid in 2008, setting up a committee that allows a potential candidate to raise money and travel to gauge support. Meanwhile, Sen. Russ Feingold, D-Wis., decided against a run. Sen. Lieberman, I.D.-Conn.? He was a Democrat who won re-election as an independent, so Sen. Joe Lieberman of Connecticut says he wants to be called an Independent-Democrat. The three-term lawmaker, who will caucus with Democrats, also said he would not rule out entertaining entreaties from the GOP if he starts to feel uncomfortable among Democrats, he said Sunday on NBC's Meet the Press. Pelosi backs Murtha as leader Rep. Nancy Pelosi, in line to become speaker of the House, sent a letter of support Sunday for Rep. Jack Murtha, D-Pa., in the race to pick a majority leader.
