CJ Ferro, 5, son of Charley and Laurie Ferro, recently visited East Lake Fire Rescue's Station 58 with his Brooker Creek Elementary School kindergarten class. When he got home, his mother asked him what he had learned about fire safety. She said he answered, "Never go by the hot stove because burns never go away." CJ took that message and turned it into a poster that gave him the ride of his life. To honor the school's top fire safety poster contest winner, East Lake Fire Rescue gave CJ and his mother a ride to school on a fire truck. They even let him sound the siren. "I just think the East Lake Fire department here," Laurie Ferro said, "between the Santa program and this, is just awesome."
