Brown-Waite's views disturbing

Re: U.S. Rep. blasts Muslim official, Citrus Times, Nov. 12

I am again deeply disturbed by another of Ginny Brown-Waite's precipitous actions.

I well remember her first call for disinterring our brave troops who fought the Germans, died on French soil and were honorably buried there, solely because France, Germany and other major allies declined to agree with President Bush about attacking Iraq. Recently, she became critical of the war in Iraq.

Now she is engaged in taking on the Muslims worldwide, turning Muslims against America, as if we need more of her kind. This is being done solely to defend a Republican Hernando County commissioner who made an accusation against Islam as a religion.

As before, Brown-Waite fails to grasp the consequences of her position as a federal government representative. Gov. Jeb Bush rightfully demanded an apology from the county commissioner, but the commissioner and Brown-Waite criticized the governor for requesting the apology.

This information was not available until after the 2006 election. She will be up for re-election again in 2008.

I support Hogans and Brown-Waite

With all due respect, it appears to this reader and subscriber that the St. Petersburg Times is attempting to make a mountain out of a mole hill. I would hope that the Times is not misconstruing this past election.

To infer that the people of this state and particularly the district of congresswoman Ginny Brown-Waite have become secular progressive/liberal or Democrat in their thought process, the Times can spin and twist the issue to their heart's content. The Times can expound its liberal/Socialist mindset all they want. The fact remains that if it "walks like a duck, sounds like a duck, looks like a duck" then, golly gee, it's a bloody duck.

One of the strengths of Ginny Brown-Waite that you neglected to mention is loyalty. Loyalty to her country, Constitution and constituents. Ahmed Bedier, whom you appear to hold in high esteem, is quoted as saying, "There is nothing immoral" about Islamic Jihad. Ahmed Bidier speaks of "jubilation" in the acquittal of Sami Al-Arian. As far as I am concerned Ahmed Bidier is nothing more than a sly fox. He is making a big mistake if he thinks he is in a hen house.

I support Ginny Brown-Waite. I support the Hogans of Hernando County. I do not support the hypocrisy of political correctness.

They speak truth on Islam religion

Enough! Stop this constant criticizing, faulting and beating up on congresswoman Ginny Brown-Waite and Tom and Mary Ann Hogan!

They have told it like it is; Islam is a violent belief. In the Middle Ages, millions of people in the world fell under "the sword of Islam." Christians and Jews were forced to renounce their own faith and convert to Islam or be beheaded or tortured to death.

Today hundreds of thousands of radical Islamic terrorists hold to the same tenets.

Why can Louis Farrakhan, leader of the Black Muslims, refer to us as "white devils" and other unprintable names, and the liberal press doesn't even notice? Jesse Jackson can refer to New York City as "Hymietown," and the liberal press just yawns.

Kudos to our congresswoman and the Hogans. Enough "political correctness," enough pussy-footing. Any group of people in the country that doesn't like following the established culture, speaking English and obeying the laws of the land: Get out!

Brown-Waite lacks character

How fortunate for Ginny Brown-Waite that she was too busy to write her bigoted, hate-filled letter until after the election.

John Russell, who ran against her in this recent election, was also a victim of her fabricated, hate-filled accusations, although, in forum after forum, the only disruptions were caused by her backers, not John Russell's supporters.

Her win was, in my opinion, bought by her having the money for TV ads and mailers while John Russell received no financial support from the state Democratic Party to be able to counteract her outrageous lies.

Well, I wonder how many voters now wish they had known more about her character.

The voters in the 5th Congressional District have, it seems, elected someone determined to accelerate hatred and bias instead of unity and understanding.

Since it has been proven that Iraq had nothing to do with the 9/11 attack on our shores, does she then conclude that we Americans are terrorists for having launched an attack on a foreign nation guilty of no crime against us?

She defends, as an attack on her religion, questions about pedophile priests and has expressed sympathy and understanding for Mark Foley, but has yet to express any sympathy for the young pages involved.

How much, if any, money was given to her campaign by her dear and close friend, Mr. Foley? Should she be asked to testify, under oath, about her knowledge of Mr. Foley's activities?

Our unknowing voters have also elected a "lame duck" who, with Democrats in control of both houses of Congress, will head no committees and garner no favors for her district.

Some don't know our real enemies

It is obvious that neither Gov. Jeb Bush, governor-elect Charlie Crist nor U.S. Rep. Jim Davis know who the real enemies of the United States are.

They all condemned Mary Hogan for her true statement about Islam. I suppose that most people don't know the difference between Muslim and Islam.

Islam is a religion. You can be a Muslim and not be of the Islam faith. Mrs. Hogan attacked the religion, not the general Muslim community.

Let's take a look at what has transpired over the years to support Mrs. Hogan's position and in light of the following, Bush, Crist and Davis should be the ones to be condemned.

Who shot and killed Robert Kennedy in the late '60s?

Who tried unsuccessfully to blow up the World Trade Center by placing bombs in its basement?

Who tried to blow up an airplane with a shoe bomb?

Who successfully bombed a plane over Scotland, killing all aboard?

Who killed people carrying American passports aboard cruise ships during the Reagan administration?

Who hijacked and flew airplanes into the World Trade Center killing thousands of innocent people?

Who's religion authorizes them to kill an infidel and defines an infidel as all unbelievers?

Who are we fighting in Iraq right now?

The answer to all of the above is Islamic extremists.

I want to thank Ginny Brown-Waite, along with Mrs. Hogan, for having the intestinal fortitude to call it like it is.

At least these folks know who the enemies of the United States truly are.

I might add, that because of the Hogan incident, I refused to vote for anyone who is such a politician that they cannot recognize our enemies, and I wonder how anyone else could.

Gurney Bunch, Spring Hill

Brown-Waite shows true colors

I was wondering how long after the political campaign we would have to wait before Ginny Brown-Waite revealed her true colors.

In order to defuse growing resentment over Iraq and the deceptive linking of Saddam Hussein with Osama bin-Laden, she managed to utter a few competent doubts about the war. Then, her election safely in the bag, she spews true venom.

What an embarrassment to live in this congressional district, and for persons anywhere, to imagine I might possibly have voted for her.

Brown-Waite is like the woman who manages to become president of the PTA. I mean the kind of PTA leader who is a complete bother to everybody, yet who manages to get elected because she knows how to make people do bake sales.

The school needs the money so desperately that we hold our nose and endure it, knowing our children only have a few more years in school.

Why in heaven's name would we ever elect somebody to Congress whose addlepated nonsense is not only an embarrassment to her district, but brings disgrace on our nation?

Please tell us this swamp monster will just go away and slip back into the ooze from which she has emerged.

C.D. Chamberlain, Spring Hill

I really hope the money I have spent in Inverness and Citrus County did not go to any of these bigots. Just to make sure I'm not taking my (white) family back.
