Sounds of Christmas

The Show Palace Dinner Theatre is taking a new tack on the holiday season in A Show Palace Christmas, opening today and continuing through Dec. 25. For 10 years, the Hudson venue has done holiday shows such as Here's Love and It's a Wonderful Life, as well as musicals scripted by area writers. Not this time. "There's no story; it's all holiday music," said Matthew McGee, Show Palace artistic director. Director Joe Camper, who put together the record-breaking '50s and '60s Revue and popular Puttin' on the Ritz, is directing, staging and arranging this show. He also has composed songs to link together the traditional holiday numbers, McGee said. "It's classy and elegant," he said. "We've done some enormous shows this year (Cabaret, Brigadoon, Mame), and we thought it would be nice to have something with glitz and glamor, but on a more intimate scale," McGee said. A Show Palace Christmas runs today though Dec. 25 at Show Palace Dinner Theatre, 16128 U.S. 19, Hudson. Dinner and show, $42.50; show only, $31.45. Ages 12 and younger, $24.95 and $19.95, all plus tax and tip. Call (727) 863-7949 in west Pasco; toll-free 1-888-655-7469 elsewhere.
