Kids have so many things to do after school these days that homework can get lost in the time crunch. Below are some recommendations from students in a Sickles High School honors English class on how to get everything done and still have time for fun:

Katy Miranda, a cheerleader, keeps an agenda that she updates daily with all her assignments. She prioritizes them by length and difficulty, doing the toughest ones first.

"You really just have to use your time wisely and organize yourself," she says.

Tyler Sinclair, a two-sport athlete who also works, jumps into his homework as soon as he gets home so he doesn't have to worry about it later in the evening. To keep the pressure from getting too intense, he takes short breaks between assignments, often catching a TV show before starting again.

If television is too strong a lure, Mickey Emmanuel has a cure. "My mom puts a timer on the TV," she says. "When it turns off by itself, I go and do my homework."

And if the homework tends to put you to sleep, keep a phone nearby, says Hannah Damato. "I have my boyfriend call me at 2 or 3 a.m. to wake me up so I can do it," she says.
