Free lacrosse clinic offered to youths

SPRING HILL The Hernando County Recreation Department will offer a free lacrosse clinic from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Veterans Memorial Park on Spring Hill Drive. The clinic is open to youth in fourth through 12th grades. Registration forms for the 2007 Hernando Crusaders lacrosse season will be available at the clinic. The Recreation Department will accept registrations through Jan. 8, and the season will be Jan. 15 through May 7. The home field is Veterans Memorial Park. The cost is $65. HERNANDO COUNTY Players meeting slated for sports Hernando County's Recreation Department will conduct a coaches and players meeting for the following sports: - Men's League Softball, 7 p.m. Wednesday, at the Recreation office, 205 E Fort Dade Ave., Brooksville. Fees and details will be discussed. The season will start in January, with games at Veterans Memorial Park and Anderson Snow Park, both in Spring Hill. - Adult Football League, 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Recreation office. HERNANDO COUNTY Audubon Society schedules bird count The Hernando Audubon Society will participate in the annual National Audubon Society's Christmas Bird Count Dec. 16. SPRING HILL Jam with Jazz Society on Dec. 10 The Hernando Jazz Society will host an open jam from 1:30 to 4:40 p.m. Dec. 10 at the SNPJ Hall, 13383 County Line Road. All musicians are welcome to participate. Nonmusicians are welcome to listen and dance. Light refreshments will be available, but attendees can bring their own beverages. HUDSON Church schedules Jazz Under the Stars New Hope Missionary Baptist Church will host "Jazz Under the Stars" from 3 to 8 p.m. Dec. 9 on the church grounds, 14236 County Line Road, on the Hernando-Pasco county border. Musicians include Mike MacArthur, Arthur Hallett, Unity and the Northenders. Food vendors will be on site. Face painting will be provided from 3 to 4 p.m. Games and activities will include moon walks, pool, air hockey, pingpong and movies. SPRING HILL Unlock magic of manger at this show A Christmas cantata, One Incredible Moment - Celebrating the Majesty of the Manger, will be presented at 7 p.m. Dec. 9 and 3 p.m. Dec. 10 at in the sanctuary at First United Methodist Church, 9344 Spring Hill Drive. The show will include music and drama, presented by the 75-voice choir, drama team and orchestra. The production is written by Tom Fettke, with narration by Max Lucado. The director is Jack Evans. SPRING HILL Stage West puts on Christmas cantata A Christmas production and cantata will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Dec. 9 at Stage West Community Playhouse, 8390 Forest Oaks Blvd. This is a free show provided by Journey Christian Center and Spring Hill United Church of Christ.
