Are you ready to shop 'n' stroll? Art fest is a big one

LUTZ - Paintings, pottery and jewelry. Sculpture, ceramics and stained glass. Woodworking, photography and floral arrangements. As many as 35,000 people will stroll under the oaks of Lake Park this weekend, browsing the many booths at the 27th annual Lutz Arts and Crafts Festival. "We have 268 vendors, the most we've ever had," said Auralee Buckingham, one of the event's organizers. Most of the items sold at the festival are handmade by artists and crafters from around the country. The event is the second-biggest arts and crafts festival in Hillsborough County. "The only one that's bigger is Gasparilla," Buckingham said. "This is a very balanced show. You don't see a million of any one kind of artwork or craft. Once we have, say, 10 jewelry vendors or woodcrafters or photographers, that's it. We cut it off." The festival is being cosponsored by the Lutz-Land O'Lakes Woman's Club and the Hillsborough Parks, Recreation and Conservation Department. Admission and parking are free. Shuttles in the park will pick people up from various parking areas - either from the Dale Mabry Highway entrance or the park's rear entrance off Whirley Road. IF YOU GO Lutz festival The 27th annual Lutz Arts and Crafts Festival is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Lake Park, 17302 N Dale Mabry Highway, just south of Van Dyke Road. Admission and parking are free, and refreshments will be available.
