SAFETY HARBOR — A 41-year-old Odessa man has been charged with practicing medicine without a license in Pinellas County, sheriff’s officials said Friday.
David Anthony Beaudrie of 12820 Killarney Court was arrested on one count each of practicing medicine without a license and scheming to defraud.
Officials said the arrest came Thursday afternoon after a three-month investigation of Beaudrie’s Safety Harbor business, International Health and Skin Care of Tampa Bay, which is located at 2753 State Road 580, Suite 102 in Safety Harbor.
The business also operates from a Hillsborough County location at 1413 S Howard Ave., Suite 207 in Tampa, according to Pinellas officials.
Detectives say Beaudrie advertised cosmetic treatments that included injections of Botox or collagen and cold-laser facelifts. He also advertised himself as Dr. David Beaudrie P.M.E., as well as being a “holistic dermatologist” and a “paramedical esthetician,” officials said.
But an investigation found Beaudrie has no medical degree and is licensed only by the Florida Board of Cosmetology as a facial specialist.
Detectives say the suspect claimed to have a background in biochemistry and had developed his own line of skin care products known as David Beaudrie Botanicals.
Beaudrie told detectives that he ordered the products from a company that placed his label upon them, officials said.
Moreover, officials said, he produced a flyer promoting his business that featured photographs and professional endorsements from singer Gloria Estefan and actress Kirstie Alley even though he had never met either.
As part of the investigation, a detective posed as a patient on Wednesday.
During the office visit Beaudrie had the detective fill out a questionnaire before preparing a collagen injection, officials said. But when the detective identified herself as a law enforcement officer, Beaudrie claimed that the injection was water.
The investigation is continuing, officials said, and anyone with information about Beaudrie is asked to call Pinellas Sheriff’s detective Janice Thibodeaux or detective Phil Mansfield at (727) 582-6200.
