The Hernando Endoscopy & Surgery Center, 12180 Cortez Blvd., in the Hernando Medical Park, Brooksville, announces its 10th anniversary of service to the community this month. It is considered the oldest independently owned ambulatory surgery center in Hernando County. Who's news Srin Dutt, M.D., board certified ophthalmologist with Eyecare Centers of Florida, 12214 Cortez Blvd., Brooksville, attended the annual meeting of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Nov. 11-13, in Las Vegas, Nev. This year's academy featured technological advances in ophthalmologic surgery. The symposiums Dr. Dutt attended included "Spotlight on Cornea: New Innovations in Corneal Surgery", and "Challenges and Controversies in Cataract Surgery". Dr. Dutt is board certified as a diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology. He completed residency at the University of Michigan where he received the Slocum Research Award and the National Eye Institute Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology. He also completed a Fellowship in Cornea and External Disease at Tufts University School of Medicine. Events The Hernando County Medical Society Alliance and "Friends" will hold a holiday benefit brunch at 10 a.m. Wednesday at New Beginnings Youth Shelter, 18377 Clinton Road, Brooksville. Youth and Family Alternatives is the primary provider of shelter and counseling for runaway and homeless youth in Hernando County. YFA has been serving the needs of Hernando's youth for many years and opened the shelter in 2001. More than 90 percent of youth served are reunited with their families or placed in a safe alternative environment. YFA provides meaningful solutions to families in crisis by counseling and family support. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Rinker Materials is the platinum sponsor. Chamber members can donate items for the "goody bags". The bags will be handed out the day of the tournament. Kreider will address a number of commonly asked questions about digestion, including how do we digest our food?, what are enzymes?, is there such a thing as good bacteria?, and many more. Kreider, who conducts lectures for consumers, schools, retailers and health professionals, has been a guest speaker on several radio shows as well. The course will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. and consists of 10 consecutive Tuesday evenings each with a full agenda, at Career Central, 7361 Forest Oaks Blvd., Spring Hill. The academy is a series of weekly sessions that offer motivated individuals essential information needed to start, run and grow a successful business. The sessions, which are taught by successful business professionals, offer excellent networking opportunities through the students and faculty. Topics covered include character of an entrepreneur, business planning, legal structure, taxes, credit and business loans, five star customer service, recruiting, hiring and managing the right people, managing the stress of owning a business and networking and marketing Hernando.
