Children invited to Christmas party at American Legion

Children ages 10 and younger are invited to American Legion Post 118 children's Christmas party from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the American Legion Hall, 5340 Eighth St. in Zephyrhills. Santa Claus will visit, and there will be refreshments and presents.

Saint Leo University has free literary event

"Celebration of the Story" is scheduled for Saturday at Saint Leo University on State Road 52 in Saint Leo.

The free literary event will feature story and poetry slams, writing workshops and a performance of Shakespeare's The Tempest.

Children's events include the Scholastic book fair, Make-A-Book and a jump tent.

These events will take place between 9:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. Featured presenters include Peter Meinke, Cedric Liqueur and Caren Neile.

Ladies Oriental Shrine sponsors yard sale

The local chapter of the Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America is sponsoring its second annual Christmas yard sale at 9 a.m. Saturday at Zephyrhills Masonic Hall at North Avenue and 12th Street in Zephyrhills.

Doughnuts and coffee will be sold in the morning, and hot dogs and soft drinks will be sold in the afternoon.

Money from the articles sold will go to the Shriners Children's Hospital. Call (813) 779-1091.
