When there is no noticeable change of seasons, how do you know it's Christmas? By the parade of powerboats, sailboats and even canoes lit up with every kind of light system imaginable in a Christmas parade where Santa arrives by yacht. Put on a lightweight jacket and laugh at your chilly relatives up North who feel sorry for your lack of snow. Little do they know. FRIDAY: The St. Petersburg MarineMax Lighted Boat Parade, now in its 18th year, continues to be a huge draw along the downtown waterfront. 6:45-8:30 p.m., with the best viewing from the Pier and Vinoy Basin area. SATURDAY: The Hillsborough River Holiday Boat Parade gets creative with decorated kayaks, canoes and traditional boats that float down the river from Lowry Park to Sulphur Springs Tower. 6-8 p.m. The best viewing is from riverfront park by Sulphur Springs City Pool and Gazebo. St. Pete Beach and South Pasadena Boat Parade begins at 5:45 p.m. at Merry Pier, Eighth Avenue and Pass-a-Grille Way, and moves through the channels of St. Pete Beach and South Pasadena. Gulfport Boat Parade begins at 5:30 p.m. at Gulfport Marina and ends up at Pasadena Yacht and Country Club at 7 and then Boca Ciega Yacht Club at 8. Tarpon Springs Bayou Boat Parade begins at dusk with boats moving down the Anclote River and into the bayous. (727) 942-5628. The Homosassa River Boat Parade begins at 6 p.m. near the west end of the river, moves upriver to near Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park, then turns back to finish at Magic Manatee Marina. SUNDAY: The Treasure Island Lighted Boat Parade leaves Treasure Island Tennis and Yacht Club basin at 6:20 p.m. and finishes at John's Pass by 8:30. Rain date is Monday. (727) 367-4511, ext. 23. WEDNESDAY: The Tierra Verde Lighted Boat Parade starts at sundown at Billy's Stone Crab. Best viewing is from vacant lot next to Billy's and at the Tierra Verde bridge. (727) 542-3900.
