What is on your nightstand?

I'm finishing up Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.

Do you recommend it?

I do recommend it, but it is not light reading. It's brutal and violent, yet it's helped me understand Nigerian history.

In The Book That Changed My Life, do you have a favorite answer?

It was Robert Kurson's answer. He wrote about Ernest Becker's Denial of Death, a book about how people refuse to acknowledge mortality. After reading his essay, I read the book, and it shows us how while we're busy creating a legacy, we are stopping ourselves from living. This is grim reading as well, and I recommend pairing it with something like Nora Ephron - balance the grim with fun reading.
