Russian pitch appears oddly out of place

A recent flier that arrived in at least one Citrus County mailbox touted a list of special pricing - in Russian! Only those with decoder rings need apply. Leaders could use a tech impact fee The computer system didn't always cooperate last week during the County Commission's workshop on impact fees. How about adding a technology impact fee, one commissioner asked jokingly during a computer-created lull in the meting. (An occasional look at the funny things that happen in Citrus County.) We'll drink to that! At the County Commission meeting last week, lawyer Clark Stillwell inquired about the status of a proposed ordinance. Gary Maidhof, director of development services, said it was in the works. To quote winemakers Ernest and Julio Gallo, Maidhof said, "We shall serve no ordinance before its time." Holiday classics in the style of jazz A "Jazz for the Holidays" concert, featuring the Still Water Jazz Trio, will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday on the second floor of the Old Courthouse Heritage Museum, 1 Courthouse Square. The Jazz Trio will present swinging versions of holiday classics, featuring singer Kathy McMillion. The concert is a fundraiser by the Citrus County Historical Society for the museum. Tickets are $15 and available the Historical Society office at the museum. Call 341-6427. Community chorus entertains today The Citrus Springs Community Chorus will perform at 6:30 p.m. today at the Citrus Springs Community Center, 1570 W Citrus Springs Blvd. Free admission. Pianist to perform Christmas music The Madonna Cafe at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church will feature two concerts of traditional Christmas music by pianist Charlie Childes. A dinner and concert will be at 7 p.m. Friday, and tickets are $15. A brunch and concert will be at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, and admission is $10. The parish center is at 1401 W Country Club Blvd. Tickets will be available there from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekdays.
